Chanukah comes early at Norwood’s Toy Sweep

Brent Cross Toys R Us was packed with excited children this Sunday, for the 16th annual Norwood Toy Sweep. Along with their families, the children, who all use Norwood services, were given a voucher to pick the toy of their choice. After a busy morning volunteers handed out delicious donuts to get everyone in the Chanukah spirit.

The event is organised by the Toy Sweep Committee, who fundraise tirelessly in the run up to the day itself. This year they purchased almost £4,600 worth of brand new toys – to be distributed throughout Norwood’s services for children with special educational needs and disabilities.

Toy Sweep Committee Chair Debra Kleinman said: “I'd like to thank my committee who have worked very hard this year to raise the money needed for this year's Toy Sweep.  We are a small committee but very proud that we alone buy the much needed toys for the Norwood resources and the children who attend the services.  Seeing the children smiling and enjoying choosing their toys makes it all worthwhile.”
