Short Breaks for young people

Our shortbreak services give children and young people with disabilities the chance to have fun, gain independence and take part in interesting activities. They also give parents and carers an opportunity to have a short break from caring.

Your local authority will carry out an assessment of need and will usually pay for the shortbreak. Sometimes there is a small charge for activities.

Norwood currently offers shortbreak services for children and young people up to the age of 19 in the North London area.

Our services include:

  • Teeny Tiny Toddle Playgroup for toddlers aged 18 months – 5 years
  • Time4U Holiday play schemes during half-term holidays for children and young people with disabilities aged 5 - 18
  • Buckets and Spades Lodge Residential respite for children aged 5 - 19 years
  • Unity After-school and holiday clubs for children aged 5 - 18 years
  • In-Betweeners Recreational transition group for young people aged 16 - 25 years
