Celebrating the Jewish Festivals
The last four weeks have been really busy in our residential and supported living accommodations as we bring to life the traditions and experiences of the different Jewish festivals.
From Rosh Hashanah and Succot to Simchat Torah, it has been fantastic celebrating with the people we support.
Norwood residents enjoyed Rabbi Coten blowing the shofar for them, while others tried their hand at making honey cakes.
An inter-home Rosh Hashanah quiz was held at our family centre in Hendon which enabled residents to see friends whom they haven’t seen for some time due to the Pandemic.
For Succot, residents enjoyed making paperchains, bunting and Lego decorations; sat in the Succah with a drink and friends, and Rabbi Coten helped them fulfil the mitzvah of shaking the lulav and etrog.
Recognising and celebrating Judaism enables residents to keep in touch with their Jewish roots and identity and helps them remain part of the community.
